Has anyone noticed how all the landscaping in the traffic islands around our area is so negleted and dying? I've been calling the city for about three years regarding the landscaping and have had no success. New landscaping was supposed to replace the island on Camino Verde three years ago and I still have not seen it. The islands/approaches/exits on Cottle and 85 are also an eyesore.

In the June 29, 1999 City Council meeting minutes, which can be viewed at http://www.ci.san-jose.ca.us/cty_clk/6_29_99s.htm, item #81 states the following:
(81) Report on bids and approval to reject all bids for the Santa Teresa Median Island Repair Project (Cottle Road to Bernal Road) and authorization for the Director of Streets and Traffic to re-advertise and re-bid the project with a revision in project scope. CEQA: Exempt. (Street and Traffic)
Approved.
Apparently there has been some action by the city to repair the median islands in our area but for some reason the current bids have been rejected. I will see if our city councilmember Charlotte Powers can provide an update. [SAS]
