Subj: Car break-in From: [email protected] (Whicker, Rebekah) Around the end of September (I don't have the exact date with me at work) my husband's car was broken into in our covered parking space (nicely well-lit) at Foothills Apartments. The car was locked, but somehow they got in without breaking a window. His CD stereo was stolen, along with all of his CD's, a $1000 cashier's check, a credit card, and several hard drives and other personal computer equipment that were in a box he had brought home after being laid off (aside from the check and credit card, about $1200 in losses). We filed a police report (using the really handy online reporting system from the SJPD) and have been dealing with replacing the cashier's check (unfortunately, they also took the receipt for it) and contesting the bogus credit card charges ever since. With the amount of stuff that was taken, these people had to have had a truck or something else large to haul it all away, in our opinions. I just wanted to pass on this information, and ask if anyone else had had something similar happen. Becky Whicker |
