Subj: Lucky's Survey

I was at the town meeting regarding this plaza and I have to say that I don't trust the representative from the Lucky's nor the representative from the property management. This especially when they are so evasive regarding a question from the audience as to whether a Lucky's competitor would be considered.

I do think that there is also bad city planning since in addition to what is happening to Santa Teresa Plaza, we have that the new Lucky's was built just a mile from a Knob Hill. If you analyze this new location, I would be willing to bet that the Lucky's is targeting the new Shea and Pinn Brothers up the Hill. Since this houses are in the $400K+, the assumption is a higher income community, so why not built right before the Knob Hill? I am sure that is a business decision and, we can't blame them for that. However, I would expect that they would also keep in mind the community that supporting them so long.

As for the plaza itself. I see it as a very difficult battle to fight in order to renovate it even to the level of the plaza where the Orchard Hardware Store is located. The reason, IMHO, is that there are too many owners to share the decision on what/how to improve the plaza. I personally think that aside from the Jack in the Box, the whole plaza should be demolished and rebuilt. This is unlikely to happen, of course. The solution, in my view, is to have only 1 owner for the whole property and start the renovation. As is, it is will very difficult to find another "good" store to go there in its current shape.
