Subj: La Colina Park "improvemens" status
From: [email protected] (Mike & Joanie Murphy)

Greetings Neighbors!
11-26-99

First, I want to report on the status of the renovations to La Colina Park which "we", the active neighbors of the La Colina Boosters Club, brought about last Spring. The work is still in the budget but each time I contact the Park Manager, Todd Capurso, or others in the Parks Dept., the bid for the work keeps getting pushed back later and later. Last Spring it was to be bid on in early Fall with work beginning before the Holidays. Of course, we knew weather would play a key role in when work could really begin, but at least the work would be bid.....

Well, the bid moved into Oct, then, Nov, now slated for "sometime" in Dec! (anyone every hear of Christmas vacation?!) At least it's still in the budget- I hope! Remember, it's Councilperson Charlotte Powers who is promising the picnic tables, shade structures, and barbeques will be done before she leaves office. That's about Dec. of 2000 I believe. I intend to request from Todd an opportunity to see the final "version" of the proposed work before it is bid upon. It should still bear some resemblance to the desires expressed and agreed upon at the neighborhood meetings last Spring.

If you want to add your voice to a simple request that La Colina's renovations and improvements begin as soon as possible (like work beginning the first month of the new Millenium- it's been waiting since Oct. 1981) contact the following people (often!- maybe once per month if not per week):

Todd Capurso, Parks manager, 2774915, ([email protected])
Jim Norman, Deputy Director, Parks Dept, 2774573,([email protected])
Charlotte Powers, City Councilperson,2774282,([email protected])

The Parks Dept. website is: www.ci.san-jose.ca.us/prns Check it out!
