Subj: Protest VTA's latest fare hike proposal!
From: [email protected] (Eugene Bradley)

From our sister organization who is organizing the protest rally this Thursday afternoon in San Jose. It is how VTA wants to have more cars cutting you off on the highways of the Valley.

You can contact Forrest Williams and Pat Dando - South San Jose's representatives on the VTA Board thru our web site, to protest VTA's latest fare hike proposal...

The VTA plans on voting on the proposal at their June 6 Board meeting. --eugene

JOIN US AFTER THE RALLY FOR THE BOARD MEETING, AND TELL VTA NOT TO BALANCE ITS BUDGET ON THE BACKS OF THE POOR, THE ELDERLY, IMMIGRANTS, STUDENTS, AND THE DISABLED!

VTA is proposing the raise fares next month and again next year. By 2006, VTA wants adults to pay $2.00 for a base fare, $6.00 for a day pass, and $70.00 for a monthly pass!

The changes VTA wants for January 2005 are shown on VTA's website at http://www.vta.org/news/releases/2004/03_mar/fares_jan2005.html.

We must act now to stop these unjust fares: Come to the rally, or visit us on the web at http://www.transcoalition.org/c/sus_vta/vta.html. The website contains information about what you can do the help stop the fare hikes. We need help with getting the word out, so if you would like to help you can download the new flyers about the May 6th rally and petitions from our website.

You can also contact Chris Lepe at [email protected] or 408-729-3284 for additional information.
